I found this hilarious visual tribute in School Library Journal in an article by Elizabeth Bird in which she describes the comic panel as "cheeky"! "I've no doubt," she says "[Sendak] would have loved it."
The Spiegelman comic is a visual take on this page-spread from Sendak's In the Night Kitchen (1970)
