Stone Bridge in Rhododendron Park, Kromlau, Germany

The Bridge is called Rakotzbrücke (Rakotz Bridge), popularly known as the Devil's Bridge, and was built in 1860. Basalt stones were brought by bullock carts from various quarries of Saxon Switzerland and Bohemia. The hexagonal basalt columns were used to build caves and pyramids, bridges and various other things inside the park.

(I originally posted this as a bridge in Russia. I hope the information included here is correct. The main interest for me is the image of this incredible stone bridge)

The information on the bridge was submitted by likk from i.imgur.com on reddit.com

(I received a request to share this information earlier this month--Oct.--and was unable to respond for some reason. Please feel free to reblog this information. I was unable to locate a credit for the photograph; so I believe it to be in public domain.)

Here is another link with some excellent photographs: http://www.placestoseeinyourlifetime.com/rakotzbrucke-a-circular-optical-illusion-in-kromlau-germany-9986/
